The United World Colleges (UWC) are a network of 17 schools and colleges that offer students from all around the world the opportunity to develop international understanding through a programme which combines high quality academic study and activities that encourage personal initiative and social responsibility.
UWC Adriatic brings together almost 200 students from more than 80 countries for the final two years of their high school education. Inspired by the ideas of the German educationalist Kurt Hahn, the UWC movement aspires to make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. Established in 1982, thanks to the initiative of the regional government of Friuli Venezia Giulia, UWC Adriatic is located in the Italian/Slovene village of Duino 20 km from the city of Trieste.
UWC Adriatic teaches the IB Diploma programme and has a unique approach to teaching, where the personal development of the student is central.
